Family, friends and familiar routines may also outweigh a nominal saving when frequent return travel is required. These are planning prompts, not statewide prevalence findings.

Who NSW May Suit — And Who Needs More Evidence

NSW may work well for a household that:

  • has a confirmed work, study or care anchor in a named location;
  • can match housing to the journeys that matter each week; and
  • has checked how often it needs Sydney, another major centre or a specialist service.

It needs more proof if the move depends on a long hybrid commute, one employer, uncertain childcare or healthcare, or a car-free routine that has not been tested at the required hours.
